Philadelphia’s only current boxing world champion Steve ‘USS’ Cunningham is to be presented with a “Briscoe” award for “2007 Fighter of the year. The presentation of the award will be made at World Cafe Live, 3025 Walnut
Street in Philadelphia, during a press conference to announce Cunningham's upcoming title defense against Tomasz Adamek.
Cunningham was one of four Philly fighters nominated for the “Briscoe” and won based on votes cast by boxing fans, boxing media, and the readers of the Web site PhillyBoxingHistory.com.

World-championship boxing will return to Newark for the first time in 60 years when International Boxing Federation cruiserweight champion Steve “USS” Cunningham (21-1, 11 KOs) defends his title against Polish-born former world champion Tomasz Adamek (35-1, 24 KOs) at the sparkling-new Prudential Center on Thursday, Dec 11.
