New Home For London ChessBoxing
London ChessBoxing has a new home at Rooney’s Boxing Gym in Southwark, South East London, following successful negotiations by Tim Woolgar, founder of The ChessBoxing Organisation and The London ChessBoxing Club, with gym owner John Rooney Jnr.
Rooney’s Boxing Gym’s publicist, Gianluca (Rio) Di Caro, spoke briefly on the new addition to the gym’s portfolio, “We are extremely pleased that Tim (Woolgar) and The London ChessBoxing Club chose Rooney’s Boxing Gym as their new home base. We believe that ChessBoxing perfectly compliments the pugilist arts based training services currently available at Rooney’s Boxing Gym.
It’s not unusual for professional athletes to play chess to aid relaxation and focus the mind. According to participants ChessBoxing not only enhances the mind’s rational potential but also helps develop an ability to analyse situations more efficiently. In addition ChessBoxing provides participants the ability to learn to recover from setbacks and turn losing scenarios into winning positions.
We have worked hard to establish Rooney’s Boxing Gym as London’s premier gym and feel that organisations, like The London ChessBoxing Club, BanDogs MMA, Marianne Marston’s Golden Girl Women’s Boxing Classes and Alex Clarke’s MilXtreme extreme training and conditioning programme, choosing to be based here clearly verifies our position as THE number one gym in London.”
To celebrate the new partnership The London ChessBoxing Club are offering a special introductory class on Saturday the 28th November at Rooney’s Boxing Gym. The two hour class will include fitness training, boxing technique and chess coaching. The fast-moving session will provide attendees the opportunity to work out on punch bags and focus pads as well as provide a solid grounding in ring-craft. For the experienced boxer there will also be sparring available.
